Betty Jean Barnett Hicks, age 69, of Decatur, departed this life on May 27, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born April 10, 1944, in Somerville to the late Andy Mae and Vinie Barnett. Ms. Hicks worked for Juice Bowl, Inc.
Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Hicks; children, Cheryl, Valerie, Johnny; grandson, Jordan Reed; brothers, Andy, Wayne, Wendell, Johnny, Robert, Gene Allen and Riley; sisters, Annie Mae Hatton and Omerlean Purser.
She is survived by her children, Phillip Reed (Debra) of Moulton, Steven Reed of Moulton, Scotty Reed of Decatur, and Chad Reed (Sharon) of Decatur; brothers, Paul Barnett of Lakeland, Fla., and Newt Barnett (Margaret) of Berry; sisters, Mary Jane Kitchens (Cecil) of Winter Haven, Fla., and Rosie Pridgen of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
