Betty Jane Sargeant, 76, of Galesburg, died peacefully at home on November 20, 2018 at 7:55 a.m.
Betty was born December 21, 1941 in Metamora, the daughter of Donald Leon and Mary Martha (Armstrong) Thompson. She married Wayne E. Jackson, Sr. Betty later married Larry Sargeant. He preceded her in death.
Never being afraid of hard work, Betty often worked two or more jobs to support her family. In her career she worked as a C.N.A. at many different nursing homes, as a cook and waitress at restaurants; at Seminary Estates as a security guard; and her favorite job, as a convenience store clerk in Old Monroe, MO, from where she retired.
In between raising her five children, Mary A’Hearn of Galesburg, Wayne E. (Paula) Jackson, Jr. of Batchtown, Duane (Debbie) and Stacey (Linda) Jackson both of Troy, MO, and Joseph (Kami) Jackson of Galesburg, Betty did not have much free time, but she loved to go fishing and crocheting. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.Betty is also survived by one brother, Mike; and three sisters, Debbi, Glenda, and Sharon. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Donna, Marilyn, Chuck, and Don.
