NORFOLK – Betty Jane LaCasse passed away peacefully in her sleep at Litchfield Woods on the morning of February fifth in her seventy-sixth year of life. Betty was born in Winsted, CT on July 9, 1945. She was predeceased by her brothers, Otis and Arthur Pickard, along with her sister, Nancy. Betty leaves her husband, Richard LaCasse; her sister, Sue Hunter of Torrington; and her children, Tina Prigge and husband Jonathan of Norfolk, Bonnie Spadaccini and husband Mike of Norfolk, Richard LaCasse, Jr., of FL, Todd LaCasse of AZ and Eric LaCasse of CA. She leaves her memory in the hearts of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with her in-laws and some outlaws. Betty was a devoted private caregiver during her life, and yet, she made her dreams come true in pursuing pastimes such as quilting, painting, stained glass, a ceramics studio and home canning. She would not confine herself indoors though. Betty would spend days, weeks and later years up at “The Camp” in Hebron, New York with her husband, family and friends and could be seen riding her ATV or snowmobile on the trails there. She gladly took charge of mowing acres of the field out front and when it seemed there was nothing else to do, it was time for the decades-old tradition of “just a Sunday drive.
