Betty Jane Waite Foster, 82, of Ottawa, died on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her son’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on January 17, 1935 in Marseilles, to Phillip and Harriet (McKivnew) Burke. She attended Marseilles High School, and later Dental Nursing School, in Chicago. She married Wayne Waite on February 19, 1955. He passed on July 11, 1980. Betty married William Carl Foster on May 7, 1983 in Ottawa. She worked at the YMCA and Snap-on Tools for 29 years. Betty was also half owner of Appleway Catering, which caters the events at Celebrations 150.
She is survived by her husband, William, 4 sons Randy (Connie) Waite, of rural Oglesby Bruce (Kim) Waite, of Ottawa, Gene Waite, of Marseilles and Brett (Claudine) Waite, of Ottawa, a step son William Foster, a step daughter, Lynn Meaney, a former son-in-law Brian Meaney, 8 grandchildren, Kira, Austin, Tracy, Tammi, Jennifer, Kristin, Derek, and Collin, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren Katie Nichole, Nathan, Melanie, and Mathew, 4 step great grandchildren, a sister Carolyn Jean (Carl) Thomas, of Seneca, a brother-in-law Bud (Jeanne) Waite, of Ottawa, several nieces and nephews, honorary children, Guylene Strange, Phil Applebee, and Marsha Gretencord, and longtime friend Pat Applebee. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Burke, and 2 sisters Kathryn Wells and Mary Lou Sineni.
