Betty J. Wigner traded in her earthly body for her mansion in heaven on November 29, 2020.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana, on August 17, 1925, to Claude and Edna Smith of Summitville, Indiana. She retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 33 years of service. She was an active member of Southdale Church of the Nazarene (formerly Columbus Avenue Church of the Nazarene) since 1955, serving as Children’s Church Director, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, Church Board Member and Missionary President. She worked on several mission trips, including Sun Valley Indian School and the disaster relief team after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
She was happy doing anything to help, including building houses, roofing, painting, hanging drywall, cooking and sewing. She was a master seamstress and made clothes to send overseas or where ever the need arose. Her last mission trip was made to Mississippi at the age of 80. Her heart was always in missions.
She leaves behind two children, Virginia (Keith) Teems, of Anderson, IN, and Jeanine (Danny) Pope of Columbus, IN; son-in-law, Michael Pruett of Anderson, IN; daughter-in-law, Belinda Wigner of Anderson, IN; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Larry) Martin, Meri Vaughn (John Ameling), Wendy Gooding, all of Anderson, IN, Robert (Nicki) Chapman of Dunkirk, IN, Jody (John) Caballero, Aaron Pruett, Jennifer Oppy, Tracy (Ted) Prochnow all of Anderson, IN, and Chris Davis of Illinois; 37 great-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with two on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Earl Wigner; five brothers, PR (Bob) Smith, Jackie Smith, David Smith, Daniel Smith, Donald Smith, and infant Teddy Smith; son, Robert (Wayne) Wigner; daughter, Janet Pruett; daughter-in-law, Jane Wigner; infant granddaughter, Cynthia Teems; grandson, Andy Wigner; granddaughters, Nickie Pope and Brandie Davilma; infant great-grandson, Gage Michael Pruett and her parents, Claude and Edna Smith. She was greatly anticipating the great reunion over there with her loved ones and her Savior Jesus Christ.
