Betty J. Oakes, 83, of 330 Valley Road, Nisbet, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at her home.
Betty and her husband, Frederick H. Oakes, observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on November 20, 2009.
Betty was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Montoursville. She was trained in classical piano and used her talents for the glory of the Lord for several area churches. She was also a companion for elderly women and a loving wife and mother.
Born July 15, 1927 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Hazel Dimmick.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Jeffrey F. Oakes of Stokesdale, NC; daughters, Vivian D. (Richard) Palmer of Mansfield, Patricia A. (Albert) Carlin of Telford, Debra L. Oakes of Franklinton, NC and Virginia L. (Donald) Mims of Pearl, MS; a sister Mary Kreisher of Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by a brother, Donald Dimmick.
