Elizabeth J. “Betty” Lisle, 94, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, celebrating her birthday in the presence of the Lord. Betty was born in Umatilla, FL on January 12, 1927, to Frederick and LaVonne Ruggles.

Loved ones who preceded Betty to heaven were her husband of 56 years, Thomas W. Lisle, brother, James R. “Buddy” Ruggles, and parents, Frederick and LaVonne Ruggles.

Elizabeth held a life-long passion and talent for landscaping and maintaining her beautiful yard, enjoying nature through her flowers and creativity. She loved to travel. She was a devoted wife and mother, giving support and love to all of her family and modeling Christian values through her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She loved sports, especially Florida State University football and any sport her children and grandchildren played. Betty gave all that she was to creating and maintaining a home that provided a secure and loving environment to nurture those who meant the most to her – her family. She was a mother who loved unreservedly and lived each moment fully. She will be so missed.

Betty’s survivors include her five children, Michael L. Lisle (Ann) of Palatka, Pat Lisle (Mary) of Palatka, Denise Owen (Dale) of Fleming Island, April Curtis (Kenny) of Palatka, Doug Lisle (Renee) of Jacksonville, NC, 13 grandchildren, Michelle Price (Bill) of St. Augustine, Michael Lisle Jr. (Jenny) of Charleston, SC, Kevin Lisle of Palatka, Veronica Lisle of Palatka, Olivia Lisle (Austin Easterling) of St. Augustine, Karl Owen (Dawna) of Fleming Island, Kristopher Owen of Fleming Island, Jennifer Cahan-Hill (Jamie Christoforo) of St. Augustine, Leah Curtis Hines of East Palatka, Stefanie Doricchi (Rino) of Tallahassee, Jonathan Raynor (Kristin) of Hampstead, NC, Nicholas Lisle (Adrianna Espinoza) of Phoenix, AZ, Zachary Lisle of Jacksonville, NC, 19 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie McNabb of Oak Ridge, TN plus nieces, nephews, many friends, and her Peniel Baptist Church family.
