Betty J. Lee, 85, of Terre Haute died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1928 to Albert Herschel and Susie Slaughter Austin. Betty married Ernest J. Lee on March 12, 1949 and he passed away on October, 18, 1994. Survivors include a son Robert E. Lee of Terre Haute, Linda Lee of Terre Haute, a son Gary Lee and wife Kris of Sault Saint Marie, MI; six grandchildren Tiffanie Neice (Paul) of Terre Haute, Shawn Hauger of Terre Haute, and Hannah R, Lee, Bethany Lee, Nathaniel Lee, and Timothy Lee all of Michigan. She has four great-grandchildren Madalyn J. Neice, Mazie D. Neice, Zoe Neice, and Phoenix Hauger. Betty also has five sisters Helen J. Fleschner, Patricia A. and Mack McCormack, Shirley J. and Jim Stultz, Darlene Bennet, and Linda L. and Gary Secrest. Her sisters-in-law are Norma Jean and Walter Anderson, Irene Austin, and Paulette Cottrell. She was preceded in death by three brothers; her twin brother, Robert J. Austin, Kenneth Austin, and Larry Austin; and sisters Dorothy L. Austin, Mary Rogers, Catherine Compton, Marlene Shafer, and Martha M. Austin. She and her husband were founders and operated Tanglewood Ranch for Boy in Marshall, IN. Betty had many foster children and spent many years as a child care provider.
