Betty J. (Hart) Mauk, 81, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at her home. She was the wife of James F. Mauk, her husband of 61 years.
Betty was born October 26, 1939, in Fort Ashby, WV, the daughter of the late Arvel R. and Thelma (Portmess) Hart.
Betty was a member of St. John’s U.C.C. in New Chester, the McSherrystown Moose, New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, and S.A.V.E.S. She retired in 2003 after 29 years as the school nurse with Conewago Valley School District, where she was also a substitute teacher following her retirement.
In addition to her husband Jim, Betty is survived by a daughter, Sonja L. Mauk of Hanover, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Orvel Hart of OH and James Hart of MD. She was predeceased by three sons, Brian K., Stephen T., and Kevin R. Mauk, and a sister, Shirley Brown.
