Anderson – Betty J. Boone, 85, Anderson, passed away November 22, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Anderson on January 29, 1925 to Myra & Charles Boone. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1943 and Ball State University in 1948. She left Anderson to take a position in Washington D.C., where she lived for 60 years before returning to Anderson. While there, she graduated from The American University with a B.S. and a Ph.D. in chemistry. She worked 27 years as a research chemist at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and another seven years for the Federal Drug Administration before retiring. She enjoyed what she did and had several papers published in Chemistry Journals. She is survived by two cousins, Carolyn Heston of Anderson and Roderick McKenzie of Fairfield, California. She was close to her relatives. Her Anderson friends were Louise Ed Staggenbery and Hazel Stanley Perkins and Lois Boone.

She survived her cousin, Mary Phyllis Harold Smith. She was an avid bicyclist for many years with the Potomac Pedalers Touring Club. She rode with her friends in that club throughout the United States, as well as in France, Italy, Germany and Greece. She loved dogs. Frisky and Mattie are left. All 8 dogs that she owned through her life were very special.
