Mrs. Hawkins, beloved wife of Willie, peacefully passed away at a local convalescent facility after a lengthy illness.

Betty Jean Hawkins was born in Parish, Texas on January 16, 1932. She was the eldest of two children born to Teddy and Estelle Johnson. Betty was one years old when her family moved to San Diego, California in 1933. The Johnson family attended St.

After high school, Betty began working at the Navy Base in the commissary. A few years later, she began working at the Euclid Convalescent Nursing Home.

In 1958, Betty met and married her soul mate, Willie T. Hawkins of the United States Marine Corps, affectionately known as “Scotty”. Their union was blessed with six beautiful children; four boys and two girls.

Betty was a down to earth person who really had a deep compassion for children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved to shop and spend quality time with her family and friends.

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, Betty Jean Hawkins was called from earthly labor to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Darrell and Bryant Hawkins and both of her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of fifty-eight years, Willie T. Hawkins; her sons, Scott Hawkins and Rodney Hawkins; her daughters, Beverley and Felice Hawkins; brother, William Johnson and his wife, Carolyn all of San Diego, California; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
