Betty Glendora Chapman transitioned from this earthly life Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 at her residence. She was born to the late John W. Chapman and Mildred D. Chapman of Winn.

Betty united with Berry’s Chapel A.M.E Zion Church in Winn at an early age. After graduating Coffeeville High School, she then relocated to New Orleans, La., where she worked at the Rudder Sewing Factory and attended Delgado College and Southern University at night. After completing her degrees, she was employed by the City of New Orleans and worked 33 years before retiring. She returned to Winn to help care for elderly father.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping with her aunt, and attending Gentilly Baptist Church in New Orleans, La., with her aunt and uncle.

Betty was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She loved her family and would go out of her way to lend a helping hand. She will be missed by her family and friends. She had the “biggest heart” and was always buying for family and friends.

Preceding her in death was her father, John W. Chapman and her grandparents.

Left to forever cherish her memories is her loving mother, Mildred D. Chapman of Winn; two sisters, Jacqueline C. ( John) Jones of Madison and Phyllis Chapman of Forestville, Md.; two nieces, Jumapili Salter and Jamila Jones,; one great niece  Jeneva  Salter all of Madison; four aunts, Coma Lewis, Louise Scott and Izola Porter, all of New Orleans, La., and Hazel (Chester) Butler of Grove Hill; with a host of cousins, including one who was like a sister, Yovette Bumpers,  Rosie Mae Howze,  Charles Randall “Randy” Bumpers, and James Russell.
