Betty Self Farrar, 78, of Saulsbury, formerly of Houston, Texas, passed from this life Tuesday evening, January 10, 2023, at Bolivar General Hospital.
She was born Friday, May 26, 1944, in Bakersfield, California, daughter of the late Delbert and Pauline May Self and was raised in Louisiana. She lived in Houston for 30 years, prior to moving to Saulsbury 2 years ago. She became disabled 52 years ago, but that didn’t stop her from completing high school in her 50’s and obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree. She worked as an accountant and was proud to be self sufficient and independent. Her family describes her as an avid ‘believer’, constantly praying for people and reading her Bible. She loved playing all sorts of games, including card games. Ms.
Survivors include her daughter, Paulina Hale (Todd) of Saulsbury; a son, Keith Farrar (Sandy) of Idaho; a brother, Delbert Self of Beaumont, TX; five grandchildren, whom she loved, Cass Hale (Alexis), Adron Lonon (Bond) and Baxter Hale; and three great grandchildren, Aleah and Chase Hale and Josie Lonon, who is ‘on the way’ in April. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Brewer.
