Betty (Greenlee) Erny of Burlington Twp., departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on Sunday March 2, 2014. She was 89 years old. Born at home on March 6, 1924 in the Morrisville, PA area, she was the 2nd child of Edwin White and Lillian (Merk) Greenlee. Her sister Pearl was a lifelong friend.
Betty graduated from Bristol High School in 1942 and married her high school sweetheart, Harry R. Erny on April 6, 1945. They had four children – Terry, Linda (deceased), Gary and Ken. “Her children shall rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.” (Proverbs 31:28) Betty dedicated her life to be a godly wife and mother always willing to sacrifice herself for the needs of others. For a number of years she worked for Sears Surplus in Burlington and enjoyed the interaction with employees and customers.
Betty was always willing to open her home to those in need and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Willingboro. She is survived by her sister Pearl Tomlinson, her husband Harry, her children Terry Simpson, Gary Erny and Ken Erny, her grandchildren Bill, David, Heidi and Daniel Simpson, Matthew and Garrett Erny, Mindy, Stephen, Jonathan and Jessica Erny and 16 great-grandchildren. Betty’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren declare their gratefulness for the blessing of a godly heritage providing understanding of love, trust, selflessness, faith, honesty, dependability, respect, endurance, responsibility and character that Betty represented in her life.
