Betty J. Deeter, the daughter of Harlin D. and Gertrude (Downs) Warner, was born September 25, 1928 in Jasper County. She grew up in the Prairie City and Mitchellville areas, graduating from Mitchellville High School.
Betty was united in marriage with Leonard R. Deeter on January 31, 1946 in Winfield, KS. They were blessed with four children: Sandra, Kerry, Patricia and Janet. Betty was a homemaker, and also provided childcare in her home.
Betty passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Skiff Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; two great grandchildren, Hunter Pierce and Trinity Oskam; an infant sister; brother, Daryl Warner; step father, Castle Fraker; and step brother, LaVerne Fraker.
Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leonard of Mingo; son, Kerry (Bobbie) Deeter of Grinnell; her three daughters: Sandy (Andy) Conn of Grinnell, Pat (Mike) Pierce of Baxter, and Janet (Kevin) Reents of Augusta, GA; 10 grandchildren: Kristi (Rob) Daniel, Jodi Conn, Stacy (Chuck) Hale, Jami (Hollis) Elliott, Brian (Chris) Deeter, Justin (Tisha) Conn, Amy (Phillip) Lorenz, Danny (Missy) Deeter, Steve Pierce, and Ashley Reents (Josh Oskam); 25 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Betty Warner of Newton; and aunt Eva Carpenter of Mitchellville.
