Betty D. Pond passed peacefully with her family present at the age of 86, on May 8, 2017. She was a long term cancer survivor with its unexpected return after 35 years. Betty was born Sept. 2, 1930, raised on the family farm in Brewster, MN. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1948. Betty traveled & worked each summer to support her college education; waitressing at Yellowstone Natl Park, the Belleview Biltmore in Clearwater, FL & resorts along the Gunflint trail in MN. She graduated from the University of MN School of Medical Technology in 1953 & then moved to CA to work as a med tech at UCLA in the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine. During the formative years of UCLA’s medical school, she was the personal assistant to the dept. heads. While in LA, she met her husband of 54 years, Don, they were married in Sun Valley, ID in 1961. Shortly thereafter, they went on an extended 3 month tour of Europe. In 1967, they welcomed their only child, Kathy. In 1968, they moved to Denver, CO & in 1969 they formed their own manufacturing sales rep company, Pond Associates Inc. After retirement, they purchased a home at a beach & tennis resort in Destin, FL where they were snowbirds enjoying winters in FL & summers in CO. Betty was a prolific & accomplished artist. Her primary focus was watercolor & she attended numerous art shows & loved selling her work. Betty also learned to play tennis in her 60’s & was an avid player. She continued her love of travel through her lifetime & enjoyed extensive world travels to China, Australia, New Zealand, France, Greece & Costa Rica. Betty was dearly loved & will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her husband Donald Pond, mother Ester Dieter, father George Dieter, brother Richard Dieter and sister Jane Selle. She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Matthew) Wagoner, grandchildren Anna & Evie, brother Robert (Jean) Dieter, sister Dorothy (David) Gresch & numerous nieces & nephews.
