Betty D. Griffin 88 of Freeport, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at her home. Born July 22, 1927 in Freeport she was the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Soliday) Zimmerman.
She married John Griffin January 25, 1947 in Leaf River, IL. He died August 25th, 2001.She attended Dakota schools and graduated from Freeport High School in 1946. Betty worked at Burgess Battery and was also a homemaker.
Betty was extremely family oriented. Surviving are her children; one son John (Adele) Griffin of Eleroy, IL. Two daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Hintz and Debra (Denis) Reilly both of Freeport.
She has one sister Marilyn (Jim) Virtue of Crown Pointe, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, John Griffin, Monica (fiancé Kevin Koning) Wolfe, Brenda (Todd) Willits, Samantha (Justin) Smith, Rachel Endean, Melissa (Bryan) McDonald, Amanda (Don) Tatham, Jake Reilly, and Sydney Reilly; 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
