Betty D. Fairchild, 84, of Clarksburg passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Home. She was born July 27, 1927 in McVeigh, KY the daughter of the late Grover C. Carter and Pansy Seabolt Carter. She is survived by her husband of 64 years James E. Fairchild whom she married May 24, 1947. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter; Angela R. Murphy of Clarksburg; two grandchildren; Kristi Williams and husband Jason of Clarksburg and Sean Murphy and wife Roberta of Stonewood; eight great grandchildren and one sister Nina Gamble of Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Everett Carter, Lindsey Carter and William F. Carter and one sister; Freda Ruth Carter and one son-in-law; Terry L. Murphy. Betty had her ham radio license, liked Bingo and was a great cook and a wonderful caregiver to her family. She never knew a stranger, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
