Norma “Betty” Elizabeth Brian passed away peacefully June 22, 2017 at the age of 96. She was born on April 4, 1921 to Joseph and Anna Young of Parkville, Md. She was a graduate of Towson High School and worked as a secretary for Bartlett-Hayward in Baltimore. In 1942 she married W. Philip Brian of Ellicott City who worked as a chemist for FMC Corporation. They settled on Glenmore Avenue in Catonsville where Betty enjoyed hosting many dinners over the years for family and friends. She was known for her homemade crab cakes and delectable cakes topped with her special chocolate marshmallow icing. In 2013 she left her beloved home of 60 years and moved to Shangri-la Senior Living of Ellicott City. She is survived by her son, Gordon Philip Brian, daughter-in-law, Mary “Gerri” G. Brian and grandson, Charles “Chip” Campbell Brian. She was preceded in death by her husband and by a brother, Gordon J. Young.
