Betty B. “Harsha” Gates, 93 of Freelandville, IN, passed away at her home.
Betty was born in Knox County near Edwardsport, IN the daughter of Ira F. and Mamie Asher Harsha. She was a graduate of Edwardsport High School and she married Walter M. “JR” Gates Jr. She was a homemaker, a member of Mariah Creek Christian Church and formerly worked at the Freelandville Community Home. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and writing poetry and songs.
Betty is survived by her family, Penny Helderman Blagrave, and her husband Jeff of Lawrenceville, IL, Pam Sturgeon of Vincennes, IN and Angela Henry, and her husband Don of Terre Haute. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stacy Helderman, Darcy McCarter, Corey Harting, Clay Harting, Abigail Leroy, Samantha Dowdy, Cassie Phillips and Caitlin Chestnut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “JR” Gates, two children, Russell Gates and Peggy Small, her parents and 2 brothers, Ronald Harsha and Russell Harsha.
