Betty Ann Walters Haigler Taylor of Charlotte, NC, passed away on August 3, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born in Washington D.C. on December 6, 1924. She graduated from Harding High School in l943, and began an accounting/sales/computer career with McKesson Corporation.
It was at McKesson (then called Burwell & Dunn) that she met her first husband Charles W. Haigler. They married September 4, 1948 and had two children, Donna Haigler Perry and Chuck Haigler. In 1958 she became a single parent to Donna and Chuck, and did an outstanding job in raising them. In 1993 she attended her 50th Harding High School Reunion, and reconnected with a fellow classmate named John Taylor. They later married on May 21, 1994. From this union, she became step-mother, to four children, Nancy Blackburn, Rita Henderson, Donald Taylor and Gregg Taylor and their families.
Betty Ann was a loving, devoted Mom to Donna and Chuck and a loving, devoted “Nanny” to her five grandchildren: Amy, Chase, Harmony, Hannah and Marshall, and her nine great-grandchildren: Grant, Jay, Gwenyth, Amos, Jack, Sam, Eli, Aiden and Ryder. She loved them deeply and with all of her heart.
Betty Ann was an extremely talented seamstress and had a passion for knitting. She met a fellow avid knitter at the Siskey YMCA and began a group that would meet every Tuesday. They called themselves The Knit-Wits. All knitted sweaters, caps, blankets, etc. went to a variety of charities.
Besides her family, she had a great sense of faith and was dedicated to Little Church on the Lane which she grew up in, as did her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent her lifetime serving the church and congregation in a variety of ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert L. and Ruby R. Walters, husband John H. Taylor, her brothers Charles F. Walters and Bobby L. Walters, sister-in-law, Carol Walters, niece Deborah Williams, nephew Larry Walters and her daughter-in-law Jo Haigler.
