Mrs. Betsy George, 85, of Greensboro, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 30, 2021. She was born in Durham, North Carolina, on February 21, 1936 to the late Floyd and Juanita Kelley Hinson.

Betsy graduated from Durham High School then attended and graduated at the top of her class from Watts Hospital School of Nursing before working many years as a nurse.

Betsy was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was part of the Women’s Ministry, taught Sunday school, played piano, sang in the choir, and sang with the Ladies Quartet and Trio of Liberty Church.

In her later years, she became a member at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where she served on the Ladies Fellowship Committee.

Mrs. George was a great cook who not only shared her skills at the church but also at home for her family. Betsy enjoyed going on church trips and enjoyed the fellowship of all her church friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who cherished her very much.

Betsy will be remembered as someone who loved caring for people, offering love and giving to her patients and family, her genuine care and thoughtfulness. Mrs. George always made certain when she left the house she looked and acted like a true Southern Belle. She will be remembered as a faithful Christian, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Mrs. George is survived by her daughter, Kyra G. Lee (Chuck); brother, Floyd Allen Kelley (Marlene); grandchildren, Kelli Bardel (Jeff) and Justin C. Lee (Nicole); great grandchildren, Lily, Kenli, Tessa, Larkin, and Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Betsy is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 61 years, Jerry George.
