Bessie Jelinek, 85, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Thursday evening, September 14, 2006.Mrs. Jelinek was born January 3, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois to Stanley and Josephine Knytych. On September 21, 1940 she married John E. Jelinek. Mr. Jelinek preceded her in death on April 6, 1985. Mrs. Jelinek was employed by the Warren Featherbone Company in Three Oaks; she was a good cook and catered weddings and other occasions that came up.

She was a 4 H Leader, a member of the Harbert Grange, a member of the First Congregational Church of Three Oaks for many years and enjoyed the friendships and services offered by the River Valley Senior Center. Mrs. Jelinek was a hard working farm wife, helping run the family farm while raising her sons.

Survivors include her sons, John E. (Donna) Jelinek, Jr. of Davison, Michigan and Senator Ron (Diane) Jelinek, Three Oaks; grandchildren, Phillip (Tracy) Jelinek of Davison, Michigan, Jill Ann (Jesse) Glossinger of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Wendy Jelinek of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Adam Jelinek of Florida; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her six siblings.
