Mrs. Bertha L. O’Neal Cheatham was born on March 6, 1957 in Pell City, AL.  Mrs. Cheatham was the only daughter of William and Lara Lena O’Neal.  During her childhood Bertha confessed Christ and became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Harpersville, AL.  After meeting and marring Otha Earl Cheatham she became a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, AL. While attending Rising Star she was a member of the Missionary Society, Usher Board, the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Adopted Grandparents.

Bertha received her education from St. Clair County Training School, Vincent High School and on the campuses of Nunnelly Trade School and Tennessee State University.  She was a hard worker.  Over the years she was employed by David Lipscomb College in Tennessee, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Piggly Wiggly, New Image Cleaning Service, Avondale Mills, and Walmart.
 
Mrs. Cheatham gained her wings on September 22, 2019 at Coosa Valley Health Care, in Sylacauga, AL.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 31 years, Otha Earl Cheatham; four brothers, William (Mary) O’Neal of Ensley, AL; Willie James (Retonia) O’Neal, of Morrisville, PA; Hosey O’Neal of Harpersville, AL; and Donald Louis O’Neal of Childersburg, AL; two loving aunts, Annie Bowie and Johnsie O’Neal Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
