Bertha L. Calhoun, 98, of Freeport, died Monday, September 6, 2010 at Manor Court.Born October 3, 1911 in Freeport she was the daughter of Clarence and Abbie (Stebbins) Forry. She married Charles C. Calhoun December 22, 1941 and he died August 28, 2007. Bertha worked for Johnson High Test Oil Company from 1930 until 1944. She worked for Fredrick G. Smith from 1957 until 1992.
She and her husband farmed on Green Gables Farm for 28 years. Her memberships include St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Stephenson County Home Extension, and Card Club.
Surviving are her daughter, Lois (Bill) Jacobs of Freeport; one grandson, Tim (Lily) Jacobs of Milton, Wisconsin; two great grandchildren, Rebecca Jacobs of Davenport, Iowa and, Madison Jacobs of Milton, Wisconsin; 2 step-great grandsons, Tyler and Ethan of Milton, Wisconsin; two nieces, Marian Clark of Freeport and Naomi Erlandson of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; husband; infant son, Bernard Eugene Calhoun; 1 sister and 2 step sisters.
