Bertha Ann Jansen died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Countryside Home.

Bertha Ann Jansen was born February 13, 1931 near Leigh, Nebraska the daughter of Martin and Antoinette (Van Ert) Melcher. She lived on a farm near Humphrey until her family moved to a farm in Pierce County in 1945.

Bertha married Marvin Jansen on June 5, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norfolk, and the couple farmed northeast of Madison. She worked as a cook for the Madison Senior Citizens Center for twenty years. She was a member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church and their Guild.

Bertha is survived by her children and their spouses, Bob and Margaret Jansen of Leigh, Gary “Shorty” and Jan Jansen of Coleridge, Pat and Leroy von Glan of Norfolk, Jean and Warren Blank of Madison, and Becky and Tom Neuhalfen of Norfolk, one daughter in-law Joyce Leinenweaver of Norfolk, one sister Elaine Guenther of Battle Creek, 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin in 2009, and one son Jim in 1999.
