She lived most of her school years in a “soddie” in Nebraska attending grade school in a one-room school near Broken Bow.  She later moved to Anselmo, Nebraska, where she boarded with a couple so that she could attend high school,  graduating in 1934 from Anselmo High School.  Education was important to her, and she was proud of the high level attained by her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.  

The Case family moved to Idaho in 1936 after several hard years on their family farm during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, a daughter Shirley Joan, a great granddaughter Alyssa, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her children Charles (JoAnna) Weygandt of Caldwell and Glenda Leigh of Parma; four grandchildren Eric (Lynn), Craig (Debbie), Rhonda, Stephanie; and eight great grandchildren Kayla, Tyson, Hannah, Rilee, Paige, Taylor, Madeline, Nicole, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
