Bertha Elizabeth Shaffer, 94, of Grafton passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Taylor County Health Care Center. She was born June 12, 1927 in Grafton, a daughter of the late George William and Hazel Belle Kerns Martin.
Bea grand-mothered everyone in the family as well as the children in her day care. She ran the day care center for the DHHR for many years where she took care of those children as if they were her own. Bertha was a member of the Salvation Army, and a member of Home League Ministry for twenty- seven years. She loved collecting Angels and enjoyed showing them to her friends and family.
Bertha is survived by one granddaughter, Beth Ann Kochka (Michael) Grafton, one grandson, Brian Shaw (Fiance’ Anjacember Rowe) Grafton three great grandchildren, Jacqueline Cady (David), Morgantown, Derek Watkins (Samantha) and Ryan Watkins (Josi), of Grafton, four great great grandchildren, Alan Propst, Sophie Railey and Jeremy Railey, all of Morgantown, Chase Watkins of Grafton, one son-in-law, Gary William Shaw Grafton, one sister, Carole L Stewart (Dale) Grafton, several nieces and nephews to whom she was very close and loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lee Shaw, two brothers, William E. Martin and Gail Martin.
