Berta Olga Waltman (Orozco), age 97, passed away in Canon City on November 29th after a slow decline in health. She was born October 17, 1917, in Cartago, Costa Rica and moved to the United States in 1949. She is survived by one son, Charles S. Waltman and his wife, Wanda (Brees) and two grandchildren, Spencer and Shelby Waltman, all of Concord, California. She was married to William H. (Bill) Waltman in Gamboa, Panama Canal Zone on March 30, 1946. He preceded her in death January 18, 1981. Also preceding her in death were four siblings, Mireya Smith (Orozco) of Dallas, Texas, Armando Orozco, Umberto Orozco, and Norma Orozco all of San Jose, Costa Rica. Her parents were Sigifredo Orozco and Isabel Orozco (Torres) also of San Jose, Costa Rica. Berta had many friends in the Canon City area and was active with Elks Lodge 610 and Fremont Search and Rescue at the time of its original founding. She was a lifelong homemaker.
