Bert Bernard “B.B.” Payne, age 72, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Bert graduated from Woodlawn High School and he served in the US Navy Aviation. Bert was Secretary and Worshipful Master, and Lifetime member of Centerpoint Masonic Lodge #872. He was a member of American Legion Post #0171. Bert has been a faithful life member for 45 years, and has served as Secretary of BPOE #79 for 27 years. Bert is a member of Independent Methodist Church of Huffman and will be greatly missed by his loving church family. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Bert Payne, mother Willie Mae Payne Hooper, step-father John C. Hooper, brother Willie Ray Payne, and sister in law Jane Smathers Payne.
