Berniece Louise Banwart, daughter of the late Silas and Ida (Benninger) Banwart, was born December 16, 1922, in West Bend, Iowa, and died at the West Bend Care Center on April 11, 2018.

She received her education in Garfield Township # 1 country school for 8 years and attended West Bend High School for one year. She took several night classes and some by correspondence and received her GED. She helped at home and also did housework for several families. In 1942, she moved to West Bend and worked for the Jensen-Rolfson stores, most of it in the corner store called Walker’s Grocery. In 1958, she began work as a bookkeeper-secretary for Dan L. Bray, MD in Algona, Iowa, and remained there until his retirement in 1984. She returned to West Bend and in 1986 began working for West Bend Ready Mix. She worked there until her retirement in December 1996. She moved to an apartment in the Retirement Village in 1988 and remained there until her death. Berniece became a faithful member of the Apostolic Christian Church in 1943 and taught Sunday school for 16 years. Hobbies were flower gardening, sewing, painting, and needlework. She enjoyed making knitted, crocheted, and counted cross stitch projects for her family and friends.

Surviving are one brother, Les Banwart and sisters, Betty Wirtz, Phyllis Strahm, Caroline Banwart and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. receding her in death were parents and brothers; Archie, Alvin, Victor, Franklin, and James.
