Bernice L. Boyer, a longtime resident of Severn and Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 29, 2017. Born on October 11, 1927 on Tilghman Island on Maryand’s Eastern Shore, she was the daughter of the late Edith and J. Clark Lomax. After attending Salisbury College, she worked as a bank officer for Union Trust Bank where she advanced to the level of Assistant Vice President of the Glen Burnie branch.

After her marriage to the late Ridgely Boyer Sr., she utilized her talents to manage the bookkeeping of Boyer’s Farm. In addition to her interest in accounting and business investment, Bernice enjoyed being with her grandchildren, playing Scrabble, listening to religious hymns, and participating on various committees at Severn United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her loving children, Ridgely Boyer Jr., Margaret Fowler, Alice Hanley, Brenda Gibson, and Lynda Travers, as well as fifteen cherished grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Always dear to her were deceased siblings, Spencer Lomax, Louise Heathcote, and Shirley Warner.
