Bernice A Davis passed away peacefully on May 22, 2015 in Emmett, Idaho.  Bernice A Davis was born Bernice Ann McMenamin on February 28, 1928 in Boise, Idaho to John and Mary McMenamin.  She attended Boise High School where she was the editor of the High Lites and was active in the Drama Club, Scarlet Skirts and Minute Maids. Later she attended Boise Junior College.  When her children were older, she began working at the Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles/Department of Law Enforcement for a total of 25 years and retired as a legal secretary.  Following her retirement she worked at the law firm of Michael B Howell, again as a legal secretary.  

Bernice married James S “Steve” Gilbert Sr. in 1947. They had two children, James Stephen Jr. and Candace Louise.  They divorced in 1972.  She later married Robert Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her sisters; Patricia Dukleth, Mary Jensen, and Eyleen Leaming.

She is survived by her children, James S “Steve” Gilbert Jr., Green Valley, AZ and Candace L Gregory, Cascade, ID; grandchildren Stephen M Gilbert, Mimi T. Herteux, Anna L Rogers, and Will J Rogers.  She is also survived by her sister Jacqueline Early, Annandale, VA; along with many devoted nieces and nephews.

Bernice was a kind, gentle woman who was loved by all who knew her.  She had a great sense of humor and was always positive. The family would like to thank the staff of Apple Valley Residence in Emmett for the outstanding care they provided Bernice over the last few years.
