Berneice T. Reidelberger, nee Thomas, Christian name, Vada Berneice Thomas, 89, of O’Fallon, IL, born April 17, 1924 in Evening Shade, Arkansas, died peacefully, May 30, 2013. Berneice married Robert W. Reildelberger on February 24, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas and they moved to O’Fallon, IL in 1958.
She was active in many civic and school organizations, including, a 50+ year member of O’Fallon Woman’s Club, a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois, O’Fallon Chapter 487, serving as Past Worthy Matron, also a member of the AINAD Shrine Temple Belles, Al Sihah Temple 29, Daughters of the Nile, a charter member and past President of the O’Fallon Historical Society and a 50+ year member of the O’Fallon First United Methodist Church, enjoying many trips with the Church Camera Club and actively serving the church community. Berneice graduated from Sidney High School in Sidney, AR, Draughon’s Business School in Little Rock, AR and also held an Associate’s Degree from Belleville Area College
Berneice worked for the Civil Service in Little Rock, Arkansas and retired as an Editor from Scott AFB. She also worked for several years as a teacher’s aide at Marie Schaefer School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Reidelberger, who died April 27, 1986, her parents; Jessie Eldon and Susan Elsie, nee Ferguson, Thomas, in-laws, Elizabeth, nee Whitehead and William H. Reidelberger, Jr., brothers; Elmer Thomas (died in WWII In England) and Earl Thomas, sisters and brothers-in-laws; Zelma Jo, nee Thomas and Pete Traylor, Dean, nee Thomas and Arch Rife and Joseph Reidelberger, who died as a child Berneice is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William H. “Bill” and Beth, nee Thomas, Reidelberger of O’Fallon, IL, a daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth, nee Reidelberger and Kent Wolgemuth of New York, NY, grandson and wife Robert T. and Jamie nee Sperry Reidelberger of O’Fallon, IL, granddaughters; Paige, Bryn and Gwynne Wolgemuth of New York, NY and great-granddaughters Analiese and Lauren Reidelberger of O’Fallon, IL.
Also surviving Berneice are her sister Treva Thomas of Houston, TX, Ed Parzych dear friend of Treva and the family and three brothers and sister-in-laws, Charles Birl and Alameda Thomas of Evening Shade, AR, John and Pauline Thomas of Marshall, MO, Van and Nancy Thomas of Batesville, AR, and many beloved, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and their families.
