He was the brother of the late James Gugenheim. He leaves his brother-in-law, the Reverend Richard Moran of Florida and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Power of Northborough. He also, leaves many nieces and nephews. Bernard was born on November 6, 1928 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Max and Beatrice (Gallagher) Gugenheim. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School and Kings College in Pennsylvania. Bernard was a United States Army veteran. Bernie “Gugs” was a high school all-star basketball player. He loved sports whether being a participant or spectator. He got so much joy watching his nephews play high school sports, semi-pro football and Boston College football. On a beautiful day you’d find him on the links golfing. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, and also bowling. Bernie cherished his grandchildren and could often be found shooting hoops with them in the yard. As he grew older, he was very content sitting and watching tv next to his loving wife, Esther holding hands and routing for the HOME TEAM!
