Bernard P. Horden age 89 of Midland died Monday March 14, 2016. The son of the late James and Ella (Sampson) Horden was born on July 9, 1926 in Midland where he was raised and educated. Bernard served with the U. S. Army during WWII.

On September 30, 1950 he married the former Marguerite Willsie in Detroit. After 65 years of marriage, Marguerite predeceased him on January 16, 2016. Bernard worked for the Dow Chemical Co. as a clerk for thirty eight years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. The Hordens enjoyed their cottage at Houghton Lake for many years and later moved to Oscoda to fish the “big lake”. Bernard was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sons Steven (Monica) Horden of Sanford, Patrick (Cindy) Horden of Fort Wayne, IN and Timothy Horden of Midland; grandchildren Micaela Horden, Angela Stevens, Joshua Briggs; great grandchildren Kayla & Matthew Briggs and one great great granddaughter Sophia Turvey. Bernard will also be missed by his sister Joan Steger; sister-in-law Kathleen Collins; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother Richard Horden.
