He was born in Secaucus to Robert and Mary McGrath. He Lived in College Park, MD.,
Burlington, VT., Boston, MA., Jersey City and Middletown before settling in Washington, D.C.
Bernie held a Master’s Degree from George Mason University in Public Administration,
He was an Executive Director for F.A.N. (Fihankra Akoma Ntoaso), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping underprivileged foster children in Washington, D.C. He loved music, movies, and literature, and he was a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and the New Jersey Devils.
Bernie is predeceased by his paternal grandfather Dr. Robert J. McGrath and his maternal grandparents Bernard and Catherine Kent. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Mary McGrath, his brothers, Robert J. McGrath, PhD and his wife Jennifer Barry, PhD of Alexandria, VA., Peter McGrath Esq. and his wife Emily of Buffalo, NY., Timothy McGrath and Matthew McGrath both of Middletown. Also, survived by his paternal grandmother, Joyce McGrath,
and his niece Laura Barry-Lenger.
