Bernard was raised in Elizabeth, NJ where he attended Elizabeth Public Schools and later served in the US Navy. In his earlier years he played baseball with a team that consisted of him, his brothers and neighborhood friends called the Power Seekers. He loved making pancakes, that was his specialty.
Before retiring 3 years ago, Bernard drove truck for the Family Business. He was one of the best drivers around. He will be sorely missed. Rest well and gain the peace your heart has long desired.

Bernard leaves behind his Wife; Marilyn Lewis, Daughter; Shakeena Lewis, Son, Ishmeel (Halimah) Lewis and Keon Lewis all of Elizabeth, NJ, Grandchildren; Makiah, Xavier, Janiyah, Zaniyah, Keonah, Zahra and Ahzeem Lewis. Siblings: Sister; Edna Halsey (Elizabeth, NJ), Linda (George) Williams (Georgia), Brother: Edmond, Wukeem, Ronald, John all of Elizabeth, NJ, his oldest living Aunt Mae Eva Cherry and Uncle Bob Lewis and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
