Bernard Leroy Hall, lovingly referred to as “Romper,” was born October 20, 1958, in Battle Creek Michigan to Bernard Hall and Marie Miller. The family relocated to San Diego, California when he was a small child. He attended Stockton Elementary School, Memorial Junior High, San Diego High, and San Diego City College.

Bernard worked for several years with the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department and Cal Sporting Goods. Both jobs involved sports, which was a source of joy for him.

A devoted father, Bernard was very proud of his son, Terray. Terray has always been very much like his father, “a quiet giant.

Bernard was born with spinal meningitis, which led to kidney disease later in life. He spent over 25 years on dialysis. He was often asked to discuss his experience at medical seminars. Dialysis several times a week is very exhausting, but Bernard never complained. He met each day and each experience with a smile. Bernard quietly departed this life on February 21, 2022.  God called one more angel home to rest. He had an easy-going, gentle spirit and served as a source of support for family members and friends alike. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Bernard was predeceased by his father, Bernard Hall, his grandmother, Jessie Webb, his uncle, Gary Webb ……………….. 

He is survived by his mother, Marie Miller, ………….
