Bernard LeRoy Nies, 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at his home in Kalispell, Montana. He was born in Ekalaka, Montana on June 12, 1927 to Frank and Clara (Berg) Nies.
After graduating from high school Bernard married Louise Richmond in Ekalaka, Montana on October 5, 1947. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed camping. Bernard worked in road construction for 26 years but also worked as a carpenter until his retirement.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James and Roger; sisters, Thea and Willa and a grandson, Nathan Lee Heilig. He is survived by his wife, Louise; three daughters: Bernadine O’Connell and husband Larry of Kalispell, Marsha Lee and husband John of Barstow, CA and Sharla Nies of Missoula; one son: Patrick Nies and wife Liz of Boise, ID; one sister, Harriet Speelmon, a brother, Robert Nies and a sister-in-law, Fran Nies all of Ekalaka, MT.
