Bernard L. Fay, 88, of Three Oaks, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at West Woods of Niles.Barney was born August 28, 1925 in Galien, Michigan to Cecil and Jesse (Decker) Fay. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy (Flick) Fay; children, Nancy (Hans) Heintel, David Fay, Susan Warnke Jones, and Connie Warnke; grandsons Zachary Fay, Michael (Christie) Jones, and Matthew Jones and great granddaughter, Evie Jones.

His son Brian Fay is deceased.Barney served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto during World War II. He was an agent for Standard Oil Company, then Amoco, before owning BL Fay Oil Company in Three Oaks, retiring in 1985. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting and fishing. Barney and Dorothy loved to travel – traveling all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. They took special trips to Hawaii and two trips to Alaska, once by cruise and once in their motor home via the Al-Can Highway. They also enjoyed trips to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tahiti.Barney kept active and enjoyed working on his motorcycles, trucks, trailers, motor homes and antique tractors.

He also kept busy with projects around the house, and often helped family and friends with their projects too.He was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church and belonged to the River Valley Antique Power Association; the Three Oaks Masonic Lodge serving as Past Worshipful Master; the Berrien County and Niles Shrine Clubs; the Berrien County Shrine Mini-Biker Patrol; Three Oaks and Niles Order of the Eastern Star; and the Saladin Shrine Temple in Grand Rapids where he was a Past Potentate. He enjoyed and was proud of his work with the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Chicago.
