Helfrich; Bernard Daniel Helfrich age 77 of Trumbull, died suddenly on February 10, 2006. He was born in Lawrence, MA and was a long time resident of Trumbull, CT. Mr. Helfrich was a life long educator, he started his career in Trumbull in 1955. He retired as the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Bridgeport after 23 years. Degrees include a B.S., M.A., a six-year certificate and honorary Doctor of Letters from Sacred Heart University. He was awarded the Knight of Saint Gregory, he is the Chairman for the Board of Finance for the town of Trumbull, a charter member of the Trumbull Rotary Club, President of the Seniors Club, at Tashua Knolls golf course, and a member of the Board of Directors for the St. Vincents Special Needs Center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He will always be remembered for his smile, his positive attitude, happy spirit, and his willingness to help anyone that needed him, without reservations. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Therese (Terry) Welch Helfrich, his loving children Daniel Helfrich and his wife Kathy, Matthew Helfrich, Patrick Helfrich and his wife Colleen, Katherine and her husband Thomas Clyons, Mary Anne and her husband John Moriarty all of Trumbull. A sister Kathleen Monahan of FL., ten cherished grandchildren, Sara, Stephanie, Danny, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Brendan, Jack, Erin, Brian, and Christopher Bernard, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Harold Helfrich Jr., and his sisters Denise Sweeney and Louise Carney.
