Bernard R. Enright, a lifelong resident of Norwich, passed away at the age of 91 on October 28, 2022. Born on January 14, 1931, he was the only child of the late Bernard M. and Helen C. Enright.
Bernie was raised in the Greenville section of Norwich and was a 1948 Norwich Free Academy graduate. He was a proud 1959 graduate of the University of Connecticut after serving in the United States Air Force following high school.
He was employed in purchasing at the former Electro Motive Corporation in Willimantic and Electric Boat in Groton.
Bernie was active in the Norwich Jaycees and the Norwich Rose Arts Festival, serving as the president of the event in 1967. He was president of the UConn Alumni Association in 1975 and was a member of the UConn Club Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Norwich Free Academy Board of Trustees.
Bernie was married on December 1, 1962, at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Norwich to Mary Ann Malone, who survives him. He is also survived by two sons – Michael and John (Sally) – and four grandchildren – Matthew, Katharine, Isabella and Jaiden.
