BERNARD JOHN BLANKE, age 70 of Manassas, VA died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Prince William Hospital, Manassas. Mr. Blanke was born July 21, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Berhardt and Thea Blanke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Blanke was Administrator of Education in Fairfax Co., VA having retired in 1994 after 22 years of service. He taught high school students how to build houses.(Vocational Ed.)He was also a craftsman of fine furniture crafted out of imported woods. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Blanke and one grandson, Tommy Stiles. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Arline Brennan Blanke, five children, Linda Edwards, of Purcellville, VA, Debbie Esguerra, of Manassas, VA, Marilyn Quint, of Haymarket, VA, Kathy McCauley, of Rixeyville, VA and Colleen Upp, of Cecilton, MD and 15 grandchildren, Jesse and Michael Edwards, Rob Bailey, Samantha, Marrisa and Jeffrey Esguerra, Chris and Mandy Brown, Tiffany and Johnny Ferguson, Andy, Brittany and Suzie McCauley and Ally and Izabelle Upp.
