WYNANTSKILL – Bernard ‘Bernie’ J. Husser, 88, of Wynantskill, and for the past 18 months resided at Beechwood at Eddy in Troy,  entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 13th. Bernie was born on September 15th, 1929, the son of the late Bernard and Rose of Troy, NY.

Bernie was an energetic, hard working man, who was very devoted to his church community. In his earlier years he was well known as the lively owner of Pressman’s and the Colonial Army and Navy stores, in downtown Troy, which he owned and operated for over 30 years. He was an active member of Germania Hall and a US Army veteran in the 11th Airborne Division.

Bernie is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Joyce, and his two sisters, Rose Rogers and Betty Ratigan. He is survived by his two sons, Tom (Angela) Husser of Bennington, VT, and Bernie Husser of Boston, MA.  A proud Grandfather of 5 and Great Grandfather of 4, he leaves behind, Brad (Rachel) Husser and daughter, Nora, and son, Adam; Jennifer (Michael) Rushing and daughter, Aisley, and son, Lawson; Katelyn (Matt) Blanchard; Jesse Coute; and Victoria Husser.

Bernie loved spending winter months with his beloved wife in Pembroke Pines Florida and in all other months of the year could be found on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s, nieces and nephews sporting events; always the number one fan.
