Bernadine Kellogg, age 70, of Algona formerly Whittemore, passed away on July 22, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. A celebration of life will be 1–4 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Seely Walsh American Legion Post in Whittemore. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery in Whittemore. Bernadine Lorene Kellogg, the daughter of Bernard and Lorene (Bleuer) Bell, was born on March 2, 1949 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Bernie attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Whittemore and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1967. She furthered her education at LaJames Cosmetology School. On March 7, 2000 Bernie was united in marriage with James Kellogg in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She had worked as a meat cutting supervisor at many meat packing plants. Bernie loved to cook, play Bingo, go fishing and camping and joke around and have fun with people. Bernie’s family would like to send extra appreciation and gratitude towards her friends and the staff at the Algona Good Samaritan Society for the excellent care and companionship they provided for Bernie. Her compassion and friendship will leave a lasting impression to those who knew her. Left to cherish Bernie’s memory are her son, Len Ladehoff of Maple Lake, MN and his children, Josh, Justin (Rachel) and Jon (Jordyn); great grandchildren, Mylah, Elijah and Oliver; her siblings, James (Peg) Bell of Algona, Deb Bell of Whittemore, Donna (John) Panzer of Mankato, MN and Tom Bell of Atlanta, GA and special nieces and nephews, Sara, Luke, Jacob, August, Cody, Tanner and Kayden. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Kellogg; a son, Dustin Whitson; and a brother, Alvin Bell.
