Bernadine A. Whittington, 95, of Metamora, passed away 7:19pm Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Snyder Village Assisted Living-Memory Care surrounded by her family.
Bernadine was born on December 23, 1922, the daughter of August and Emma (Meismer) Scheirer.
Surviving are her four sons, Paul (Ellen) Whittington of East Peoria, Dale (Annette) Whittington of Metamora, Mark (Carol) Whittington of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and Kim (Terri) Whittington of Metamora. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren. Kerra (Tim) McCoskey, Chad (Joy) Whittington, Greg Auten, Chad (Shannon) Auten, Maggie (Marty) McGraw, Grant Whittington, Hannah Whittington, Allison Whittington, Courtney (Brian) McCoy, Abigail Lorenz, Mitchell Whittington, Natasha (Andrew) Schertz, and Erica (Jarrod) Bane; 14 great grandchildren.
Bernadine was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 89 in Metamora.
Bernadine was employed at Weidman’s Hardware in Metamora where she worked for 8 years. She later joined the family team at the Family Fountain Cafe in Metamora and worked there for 15 years. Bernadine was a long time Woodford County Election Judge.
Family was everything to Bernadine. She was a loving wife, incredible mom, wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff of both Snyder Village Assisted Living Memory Care and OSF St. Francis Hospice for their exceptional care of Bernadine.
