Bernadette Castillo, beloved wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother was reunited with our Lord on November 29, 2021. She was born in Walsenburg, Colorado on February 17, 1951, and married Ricardo Castillo on August 24, 1974. Their great love for each other was noticed by everyone around them, as Bernadette would often refer to Ricardo as “Honey”.

Bernadette enjoyed being around her grandchildren, making cookies, watching their activities, and giving lots of hugs and kisses. Bernadette and Ricardo enjoyed gardening together and would offer their produce to family and friends.

Bernadette was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Benedict Parish in Florence, Colorado, attending Mass and Adoration often. She enjoyed teaching religious education and sharing her faith with the youth of the parish. She also liked making rosaries that would be shipped to ministries worldwide.

Bernadette and her sister JoAnn Pacheco owned and operated multiple businesses including Traffic Control West Inc., a highway barricade business, since 1983. The two sisters have navigated through the Colorado highway construction industry for nearly 40 years.

Bernadette is survived by her husband; three children, Martin (Ikuko) Castillo, Angela (Tim) Young, and Lara Castillo; six grandchildren, Izir, Mia, Eva, Devin, Curtis, and Lianna; sisters, JoAnn (Jack) Pacheco and Etta (Robb) Pacheco; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and their families. Bernadette is preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Viola Pacheco, and brothers, Ronald and Billy Pacheco.

Bernadette Castillo will be sadly missed by all who loved and cherished her.
