Bernadette A. Denny, 97, of Bethlehem died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.  She was the widow of Robert C. Denny, Sr..  Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Josephine (Hardt) Focacci.  After high school, Bernadette worked on Wall Street where she was a ticket taker on the floor for several years.  While her children were in grade school, she worked as a secretary for chemical companies in New Jersey.  She started as a volunteer and then an employee in the activities department of the former Leader Nursing Home.  She also worked in the cafeteria of the 1770 Building.  She came close to her goal of working until she was 80.  She was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church where she was instrumental in getting Adoration started.  She was a volunteer driver for seniors and lunch Mom at Catholic school when her children were young.

 

Survivors: Children, Robert C. Denny, Jr. and wife Moira of Magnolia, DE, Michael J. Denny and wife Mildred of Blairstown, NJ, Stephen R. Denny and wife MaryAnn of Milford, Catherine M. Hennis and husband James with whom she resided; brother, Louis Focacci of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nephews; nieces.  She was predeceased by siblings, Joseph Focacci, Betty Hart, Lorraine Vyborny and Geri Caiazzo.
