Berklee Lyn Leary

August 8, 1990 – October 2, 2022

Berklee passed away on October 2nd at her home in Goodyear, AZ surrounded by her family.  Berklee Lyn Jensen was born on August 8, 1990 in Eugene, OR to her father Daniel Craig Jensen and her mother Dona Kay DesLauriers. She had two younger sisters, Carlee Diane Jensen and Baylee Marie Aboussafy, and grew up in Scottsdale, AZ. She loved dancing, choir, and watching the Oregon Ducks. Berklee graduated from Pinnacle High School in 2008 and went on to attend San Diego State University, majoring in Psychology. She was a member of Psi Chi Honors Society, Psychology Club, and was an active Young Life leader. She loved going to the beach, being involved with her church, and attending sports games, especially baseball. This is where she met Andrew Patrick Leary, who she was married to from 2013 to 2021. 

After graduating magna cum laude in 2011, Berklee moved to Bellevue, WA and enrolled in the Master’s program at Regent University. In 2013, Berklee and Andrew moved to Las Vegas, NV where she worked as a teaching assistant and a therapist while completing graduate school. In 2015, she graduated summa cum laude, receiving her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling a few months before the birth of her first son, Cayden James Leary. In 2018, Berklee gave birth to her second son, Hudson Craig Leary, and in 2019 her family moved to Goodyear, AZ where she took a job as a clinical school counselor. Though Berklee had been a Christian for some time, she was officially baptized at The Refinery in June 2019. She spent her free time with her family, blogging about motherhood, going to concerts, and building her private therapy business. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor and eventually moved into her role as a clinical specialist, working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders.

Berklee was diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer in July 2021. Berklee maintained a positive attitude regarding her diagnosis and continued to work while completing five months of chemotherapy, undergoing a double mastectomy, and 39 rounds of radiation. In March 2022, Berklee found out she had Stage 4  Metastatic Breast Cancer but chose to live the remainder of her life to the fullest, enjoying every moment. She brought joy to the cancer community through her uplifting videos on social media. She was an inspiration to anyone who knew her through her grace, courage, and unwavering faith.

Berklee is survived by her sons Cayden and Hudson and their father Andrew; her mother Dona (Mark) in Phoenix, AZ; her father Daniel (Kenza) in Newcastle, WA; grandmother Sandra in Surprise, AZ; her sisters Carlee in Montgomery, AL and Baylee (Colton) in Edmonton, AB, Canada; her stepsisters Leila Chihab in San Diego, CA and Selma Chihab in Seattle, WA; her stepsister Olivia DesLauriers in San Jose, CA; and her stepbrother Emerson DesLauriers in Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
